I wholeheartedly agree with the advice but (mostly) casually throw it over my shoulder when it comes to my personal writing. My professional (scientific) writing however... when I'm sending a paper out to a journal, I'm like: perfect! How can they not love it, it is wonderful and also, perfect. The journal normally takes a good while to get back to you, so that's practically the incubation time after which I'll find all kinds of flaws I was blind to before. Oh, those dread-inducing rereads...

Loving the sound of all these books! I’ve been in a rut and need some thrillers in the mix!

Sorry I'm so late finally reading this, but that advice is making me feel better about the fact that I've recently told myself it's okay to consciously pause on trying to make things happen, writing-wise, when it's not flowing! And can't wait to check out some of these book recs — funny enough, I've only seen the TV adaptation of Tell Me Lies (just a few episodes and I fell off with it, but going to revisit) and it was pretty good!

Ooh I would love to do one of those residencies at some point and high five from a fellow snail writer.

Thanks for all the book suggestions. I loved The Rachel Incident, too ☺️ I just finished Monogamy by Sue Miller and Just the Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica and enjoyed both of them.
